Maca is a plant that is native to Peru. It has historically been used to enhance strength, stamina and libido. It is a nutrient-dense food and it takes over 5kg of maca root to make 1kg of our maca root 5:1 powder.
Maca grows in the Peruvian Andes at over 4000m above sea level. Legend has it that it was consumed by the Incan warriors prior to battle to increase their fighting spirit. Green Origins Maca Powder contains an equal blend of red, yellow, purple and black roots, providing a wide nutritional value, which is considered an optimal combination. The vitamins in maca contribute to hormonal balance, stamina and energy. Its high vitamin C content also helps to support the immune system. Maca powder is an easy way to incorporate more nutrients in your diet by simply adding it to your favourite smoothie.
The vitamins B6 and C in maca contribute to hormonal balance, stamina and energy. Maca is high in copper, which contributes to the maintenance of mental health. Its high vitamin C content also helps to support the immune system. Maca also contains omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids, linolenic and oleic acid and is a protein composed of 19 amino acids. These include 7 of the 8 essential amino acids - those we require from our diets yet cannot make for ourselves so have to acquire from our food.
We recommend that you take 1-2 teaspoons per day, mixed with juice or a smoothie. It should ideally be taken between meals. Start with a smaller serving and increase this gradually. This product should not be used as a substitute for a varied balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the suggested use. Store your Maca Powder in a cool, dry place.
Green Origins Maca is grown organically in Peru at an altitude of over 4000m. The growing season is eight months long, which gives time for the nutritional profile to develop fully. It is then dried for three months in the open air before being cleaned and broken into small pieces. These pieces are then processed to break down starch molecules and make the nutrients more easily absorbed by the human body.
There are several variants of maca, which express themselves in the colour of the root. It can be cream, green, red, purple, grey or black. Fundamentally they have the same basic wide nutritional profile, but they exhibit slightly different phytonutrients. For this reason Green Origins Maca Powder contains an equal blend of all 4 phenotypes, by using red, yellow, purple and black roots.
